Rebel Girl: RubberAlice

Post Image
RubberAlice is an alternative and fetish model from the UK. She started her career literally encased in latex, all while rocking eight inch heels. She still loves the darker side of modelling with a closet of corsets to match, we’re sure! Find all about RubberAlice yourself below.[caption id="attachment_103571" align="aligncenter" width="700"]

How did you get started? My 'career' as a model has always been more of a hobby for me - one that has paid off in so many ways and something I have always loved to do over the years.I enjoy making art, and I view modelling as an art form, when combined with passionate photographers, skilled makeup artists/hairstylists, enthusiastic designers... I am the canvas and they can create me as they wish to. It's a thrilling experience to share the vision of non-conforming beauty with others and translate it into a language the world can understand and see, and hopefully experience the wonder and amazing we are trying to project.Do you love any one genre of modelling more than another?I used to be very heavily fetish based back a few years ago - I adored being encased in latex and strutting about in 8 inch platform heels, and I favored the darker, more sensual and forbidden side I found had the 'shock' factor for a very different and vanilla audience.  I tend to model more fashion and gothic genres these days for clothing companies, corset makers and designers nowadaysWhat was your first shoot as a model like?My first shoot was terrifying! I used to be incredibly camera shy, but I was coaxed out of my shell during college by friends who were studying photography; they encouraged me to pose for them as I had several tattoos and piercings, I had brightly coloured dreadlocks and dressed like every day was Halloween; they helped me to accept myself and become comfortable with my own body and appearance, and my confidence soared after being a model for the day on that rainy afternoon.Tell us a bit about your style? My style is a bit mixed up these days - I used to be what I would define as 'goth',  but nowadays I try to not label myself as I often don't fit exactly into a category. My style is simply me, which equals tattoos, wishing I had more than two feet so I could wear dozens of shoes all at once (I have an addiction to footwear, who knew eh?), always in black, and red lipstick. You have a sense of style we would kill for! What do you think has been your most ‘out-there’ outfit you’ve ever rocked?Wow, that is a great compliment! I think my most "out there" outfit that I've rocked would have to be my 'Dead Snow 19th Birthday outfit, which I actually wore for a couple of shoots afterwards as well - latex catsuit, platform boots, a whip, military cap and all the zombie gore/horror effects on my face - I loved it![caption id="attachment_103570" align="aligncenter" width="700"]Photography by Jerry[/caption]Let’s talk tattoos for a moment! What first drew you to tattoos?Well, tattoos have fascinated me since I was a kid - I used to cry when those rub on/rub off tattoos that came with packets of bubblegum had to be eventually washed off, and I would draw on myself in felt tip pens... I guess that love of artwork on the skin carried into my adult life as 13 days after my 18th Birthday, I got my very first tattoo. Are you planning any more for the future? Now that would be telling ;) I have so many ideas of what I'd like to have tattooed next I don't know where to start, and there's no end either! What’s your favourite thing about the tattoo community and what is your least favourite? My favourite thing about the tattoo community is how open it is - it is far more acceptable now to be inked than what it was many years ago, and seeing such a gathering of passion for such an ancient cultured art form makes me pleased to be a part of it. My least favourite thing.... people bad mouthing each other about their ink - it gets way out of hand!Do you have a favourite tattoo experience/tattooist/tattoo?I know I've enjoyed all my tattoo sessions (yes, even the ones that were super painful, like my elbow, ribs, hips and thighs!) and each one has a special memory for me or something associated with it that means a lot to me - my tattooist is my all time favourite artist as he is the only one to have ever worked on my body, and he will always be the only one to do so. He's Mick Cairns of Inkhouse in my hometown, Newcastle Upon Tyne, and you can view all his great work on his Facebook like page. What do you think makes you stand apart from other models? Now that is a tough question - I don't think I stand out from the crowd, but I've been told my work always has an atmosphere and emotion to it, so I like to think I can portray powerful feeling across which fits the theme, and have it captured in an image. What do you do when you aren’t modelling? When I'm not modelling, I'm quite often planning new shoots - I like to get a theme or idea and express it an as many ways as possible with people I can work with. I like to plan ahead with shoots so I always have something to look forward to in future. If you could go back to your early modelling days, what would you do differently? If I could go back, I'd tell myself to dream even bigger - I had people tell me I couldn't make it as a model or be good enough, and it damaged my confidence. If I could tell myself to not listen to my critics and dare to dream, then I'd reach the stars if I wanted to.Do you have any tips for new models that find you inspiring? My best tips for new models would be to keep on believing in themselves - if it makes you happy, keep at it!Find more info and images about RubberAlice on her Facebook fan page!
