hp HSTNN-UB02 battery

Change HP Pavilion DV4 1103TX OS Vista to XP

After several hours practice, I have successfully changed my HP Pavilion DV4 1103TX OS from Vista to XPHp laptop battery. Now let me introduce my experience when you install the XP OS to your Pavilion DV4 1103TX.


I bought my HP Pavilion DV4 in April 02 in HP store. To avoid some trouble, I decide install XP into my Notebook in April 19 ( 15 days after I buy the notebook, as the HP supply the 15 days free replacing ). Please notice this :The HP Pavilion DV4 hard disk is the ICH9 SATA DISK. Some XP OS edition driver cant support the ICH9. I tried many XP OS edition to face the situation. Not all the HP Pavilion series laptop are ICH9 SATA disk, that means you dont need to special download the ICH9 XPS SP3 for Pavilion DV1000 battery, Pavilion DV2000 battery, Pavilion DV4000 battery, Pavilion DV6000 battery, Pavilion DV8000 battery, Pavilion ZV5000 battery, Pavilion zv6000 battery.


To ensure the OS change cant effect the HP quality warranty. I called the HP customer center to query the problem.HSTNN-DB02, They said that they are not accountable to the broken of userself bios fresh, but they say I can change my notebook OS to XP SP2 without bios freshing. But when I finished my XP SP2 install, the voice card driver cant work. So I must fresh my bios, you only need to notice that dont interruption of power supply when you fresh BIOS.


Please notice that :346970-001, HSTNN-DB02, HSTNN-UB02, DP390A, PP2100, Please fresh the F11C BIOS program before you install the XP OS, or you must reinstall the OS again.


Now let me install the XP SP3 into my Pavilion DV4 step by step:


First download or buy ICH9 XP SP3 CD (the CD must be ICH9 XPS SP3), you can google it

Then prepare the F.11C-BIOS fresh program. Fresh the F.HSTNN-UB02,11C-BIOS here : http://www.icare.hp.com.cn/TechCenter_StaticArticle/45904/59726.zip

The BIOS only can be freshed in DOS.


Next you only to install the XP SP3 into your notebook in standard step. Dont care of the black screnn when installing.

After finish the install, you can go to XP edition desktop to fresh all the driver.

Please Notice this : as I install the XP SP38558 OS,346970-001, HSTNN-DB02, HSTNN-UB02, DP390A, PP2100, first we must uninstall the originally voice card driver. Then install the download voice card driver. Also you can install XP SP3 in to you pavilion DV5, pavilion DV5T, Pavilion DV7.


In the end fresh the F11C BIOS, restart the notebook , then you will find your notebook works fine with all drivers. Pavilion ZD7000,You can update your Pavilion DV1000 battery, Pavilion DV4000 battery, Pavilion ZV5000 battery, Pavilion zv6000 battery XP OS to XP SP3 without redownload all drivers and BIOS.

Batteries with less remaining charge are not considered RCRA-regulated hazardous waste. In some cases, the charge may be determined using a Battery Test Set. In those cases where the charge cannot be determined, the batteries should be disposed of as a characteristic hazardous waste.

Regulatory Exemptions

Spent lead-acid batteries that are being reclaimed; PM579A,

Batteries from which precious metals are reclaimed (silver, under the Precious Metals Program);

Batteries returned to the manufacturer for regeneration; or

On 11 May 1995, the EPA promulgated the Universal Waste Rule codified in Title 40 CFR Part 273. The rule established streamlined management practices for universal wastes and provides relief from the full regulatory aspects of RCRA. Currently, all kinds/types of batteries are covered under the universal waste regulations as long as they are hazardous wastes. The only types of battery exempt from universal waste regulations are lead-acid batteries managed under Title 40 CFR Part 266, Subpart G, "Spent Lead-Acid Batteries Being Reclaimed." Additional information on the Universal Waste Rule is contained in the PRO-ACT Fact Sheet "Universal Waste Rule" (currently under revision).

The Mercury-Containing and Rechargeable Battery Management Act (Battery Act) was signed into law (Public Law PL-104-142) on 13 May 1996. The purpose of this law is to:


Phase out the use of mercury-containing batteries;

Mounting a hard drive on my laptop


I got a portable hard drive and ran into an issue of being afraid toEV087AA move my laptop while it was running.  I also almost had it drop while giving a presentation which would have been a very bad thing as it was running 2 virtual machines at the time.  This had to be fixed ASAP.


With about $4 worth of 3M removable poster mounting Velcro, I was able to mount it and remove it if I chose to.  Here are some pictures.

Coming from an ASP.Net and WinForm background, XAML seems like it would be fairly easy to get a handle on but I’m having to take a bit more cautious approach to it.


Win32 Button From DrunktenderXAML is XML as is HTML and kind of has some CSS like attributes but at the same time they are different.  For thisEX942AA

reason, I’m taking baby steps to port my old bartending application over.  The first thing I’m going to attack is the button.  Here is the button from the Win32 application.  Yes, I know it looks WPF like but that is just chrome my friend and myself helped paint onto a default Win32 button.


Since I’m a developer, I’ll be using Visual Studio 2008 but Expression Blend will do this far better.


To recreate this in WPF, I have to do a few things to do and a new requirement.  I need an image / XAML glass, text at the bottom, and the new requirement is to have it scale.  With a XAML glass image, I can change the liquid color dynamically along with resize it with no fidelity lose since the image is vector.


WPF Button The current button (on the right), I have isn’t fully worked out as it can’t import XAML into 337607-003 it but that is just a small issue.  I’ve done this in Silverlight so I know I can do it.


This seems pretty straight forward on how to get everything to work correctly, but let me show you how I did this.  Right now this is pure XAML, no C# or VB.Net exists yet.


For the XAML, I used a Grid, Label, Image and some RowDefinitions to get this worked out.  I can do this since in XAML, I can nest objects within one another’s container.  This lets me put an image / placeholder for XAML and a label within the button so I can extend out the button extremely easily.

WPF Wire FrameWhat this produces (I removed the koala image) PB991A is a grid system that looks like this.  Breaking down the XAML, we see I have 2 rows I defined in the grid.  I have one that is floating and the other is a fixed height of 30.  Then I can say Grid.Row="X" to the element I want to attach to this Row.  In this instance I made the Label to stay at 30 and the Image to take up the rest of the space.  When the button grows or shrinks, the image will be effected, not the text.


Other things I had to do was tweak a bunch of settings on the Image.  I set Stretch to UniformToFill and ScretchDirection to Both along with centering both the vertical and horizontal alignment so when the image grows, it stays centered and in proper proportion.


Up next is dynamically loading and setting a property (or properties) from that XAML!  And PB994A with Expression Blend 3.0, my designer can hand me Illustrator files and I can directly import them in!

One of the concerns that plague laptop owners is whether or not they should make an effort to run down their laptop computer battery to nothing before charging it back up again. Most modern laptops contain the newer lithium ion battery. That said, you should still run the battery down to zero at least every 30 charges or so. This is not to reset the battery, but to reset the fuel gauge on your laptop, that is, the indicator that tells you exactly how much battery life and time you have left on your charge. Running the laptop battery all of the way down to empty helps the fuel gage re-calibrate itself to give you a more accurate reading.


Laptop batteries do need to be replaced eventually, even with proper care, just as car batteries do. After two342661-001 years of daily use, most of it unplugged, I had to replace the battery on my Apple iBook G4, the same laptop I am using right now to write this to you.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) will release a laptop next month

Hewlett-Packard (HP) will release a laptop next month that can run for to 24 hours using a high-capacity battery -- but only if it's running Microsoft's Windows XP operating system.


The long-lasting notebook will be a special configuration of the 6930p, Hp laptop battery,part of HP's EliteBook line that the company targets at businesses.

The allure of a battery that can last a day is incontestable, as anyone who has spent time in an airport searching for a power outlet knows. The secret to the 6930p's long battery life is new technology -- and some old technology too.


To get the best battery performance, the 6930p will have to run Windows XP rather than Windows Vista, Microsoft's latest operating system. Vista has been criticized as being a power hog, although some of its flashy, power-draining features such as the translucent Aero windows can be turned off.


Although Microsoft has been heavily pushing Vista, HP has said it will offer downgrades from Vista to Windows XP on business laptops through next year.


The 6930p will also need a 12-cell Ultra-Capacity Battery, which sells for $189. The battery lasts about 10 hours longer than the regular-capacity one.


The new laptop model will also have HP's Illumi-Lite LED (light-emitting diode) display,Pavilion ZD7000, which the company says adds four more hours to a battery's life than a traditional LCD (liquid crystal display) screen.


Further power savings will come from the use of an Intel SSD (solid-state drive), which uses power-saving NAND flash memory rather than a rotating magnetic disk to store information. Use of an Intel SSD enables the battery to last around 7 percent longer, HP said.


HP is one of Intel's partners and will soon being incorporating Intel X25-M and X18M Mainstream SATA SSDs in its products.


HP lists the current available version of the 6930p as starting at $1,199 on its Web site, although the company has not listed how much the 24-hour battery life configuration will cost.

Sony has added its name to a growing list of computer makers recalling laptop PC batteries made by one of its own subsidiaries.


The Tokyo-based company said it will offer replacements for around 90,000 battery packs sold with models of its Vaio PCs in Japan and China. The battery packs have the model names VGP-BPS2B and VGP-BPS3A. PP2182D,The former was used with PCs sold in China while the latter was used in Vaio T-series laptops sold in Japan and in models sold overseas, Sony said in a statement.


Sony is planning to widen the recall to battery packs sold with PCs in other countries but has yet to finalize those details, said Daichi Yamafuji, a spokesman for Sony in Tokyo.


The VGP-BPS2B is used with some models of Vaio AR, FE, FS and SZ-series laptops while the VGP-BPS3A is used with Vaio T-series machines, according to information from Sony and a search of its Web site.


Earlier in the day the Nihon Keizai Shimbun business newspaper said the Sony battery exchange would reach around 300,000 battery 338794-001 ,packs by the time it had been announced worldwide. Sony did not comment on the newspaper report.


With its Tuesday announcement, Sony becomes the seventh company to recall or offer exchanges on laptop PC battery packs. All the batteries include cells made at Sony Energy Tech in Japan. The recalls began in mid-August when Dell said 4.1 million batteries shipped with its laptops contained the cells. Within two weeks Apple Computer recalled 1.8 million battery packs. Those two recalls remain the largest of the nine announced by seven companies over the last two months.


In late August Sony said its cost for the recalls would be between ¥20 billion and ¥30 billion ($167 million and $251 million). Earlier Tuesday it said it is considering revising its profits forecast for the year, in part because of the battery recall.PP2182L, Sony is due to announce its half-year earnings next week.

Replacing a laptop battery? Beware

Ever needed to replace a dying laptop battery? If you do, you'll quickly notice that a large number of the providers offering batteries at below manufacturer cost are based in China, not noted for its standards of consumer protection.

We have had reports of poor quality products turning up from this region so don't assume it won't happen. Here is a guide to avoid being ripped off...


1. When ordering, don't assume a .com or .co.uk website address offers one iota of reliability - country-based web domains are regularly used to give the prospective customer the illusion of locality. Most of these companies are based in Hong Kong or Guangdong, feeding supply from a large number of local clone battery makers.
